Things are getting exciting! We have dug a trench for the stream and bog wide enough to include the water width and boulders on each side. And we made it very "windie" in a whimsical sort of way. The bog will be on the left in the shallow area. You'll better see this in the following pictures. |

With hands shaking but determined, I make the first liner attachment of the project. I would let nobody do this but myself. Since I was the engineer on the project and I would be responsible for any and all leaks, I wanted to be the one to screw it up! I can still remember the excitement... |

The trackhoe is setting where the stream liner begins the first waterfall, the upper waterfall. That was where we thought it was going to go. Yeah, it moved to the left about two feet! But that would be next year. It was getting cold now... |

I thought the connecting of the liner to the biofalls was exciting - until we began to put boulders on the liner to form the stream! Before laying the liner into place we prepared the ground by adding more than six inches of clean sand in the stream bed and lined the sides with multiple layers of landscape fabric. This step required us to first lower all the plumbing in the stream bed! I thought it was deep enough... |

This is a view of the stream looking north - after a very hard day of boulder placement. Some of those guys were "two-man" boulders! Notice how "clean" the landscape area is? You can come back to this picture later for a comparison. |

This is a nice view of the stream looking south. That biofalls container is almost five feet across and over four feet deep. Notice the wrinkles in the stream liner? Our best efforts resulted in some wrinkles when placing large boulders. Some boulders were placed on additional pieces of extra liner if I deemed them to have rough surfaces or sharp points, etc... |

This is a view of the upper pond falls as we thought it might be. This was November and the rock was heavy and we were tired. You might look at it as a winter place-holder! It will be replaced. |

I like this view of the stream from the roof! You can see the outline of the stream bog on the left where the stream begins the first "jog". It was simple to finish the bog - just mix one part peat, two parts sand, one part nice black dirt. Install landscape fabric in the bog area and fill the space with the mixture. |

Nice view of the upper watterfall dumping into the upper pond. Well, the upper pond liner is laying there, all folded up for the winter! |
